Howden: My presentation will focus on the drainage basin as unit of management. The increasing acknowledgement of the ecosystem approach, and the interconnectedness of elements around and inside the watercourse itself, gives reason to question whether it is time to bury the watercourse or drainage basin as unit of management, and rather redefine this unit in accordance with ecological connections.
The how to distress wood presentation will compare the traditional how to distress wood legal paradigm of water management to the one suggested by the community of interest doctrine, and examine how the latter can contribute to better and more sustainable management of water resources.
