He entered tentatively.

Maya didn’t sleep well that night. The next morning, she woke up with a terrible headache. She looked at herself in the mirror. She looked haggard, tired, and her lips were obviously bruised. She didn’t neptune kitchens want to have to explain that to anyone at the office so she decided to stay home.
“Maam,” Liza said excitedly, “Sir James sent a huge bouquet of flowers to your office! Should I ask Mang Lem to bring it to you? I’m sending him over anyway, to drop off some papers needing your signature.”

And like an obedient child, she opened her mouth and swallowed the porridge. He continued to tell her anecdotes to amuse her while spooning food into her mouth. Soon enough, the bowl was empty.
He put the bowl back on the tray and left the coffee by her bedside table. She lay back down feeling a little better. She closed her eyes, allowing herself to enjoy the sensation of having someone care for her.
Richard watched as she lay down and closed her eyes. A stray wisp of hair fell on her forehead. Instinctively, he reached for it and tucked it behind her ear. It felt like the most natural thing to do. He then picked up the tray and left quietly.
Maya shivered as she felt him touch her face. She was all too aware of his presence in her room, yet she marvelled at his gentle, caring nature. She wanted him to stay there with her, maybe hold her and comfort her like he did last night. He affected her like nobody else ever had. I think I falling in love with him, she admitted to herself.
She neptune kitchens welcomed his presence. He made her laugh. He was fun to talk to. He made her feel better. She enjoyed his caring attention. She wasn’t sure if he felt the same way. But he seemed to be enjoying himself as well.

He would bring Maya’s food upstairs and they’d talk about their familes, swapping stories of their childhood, sharing their thoughts about many things. One thing she hasn’t shared with him was the story of how Abby came to her life. He assumed she hated the father of Abby. She never strayed towards that topic.

Richard drove them back home after. He kept glancing worriedly at Abby in the rear view mirror. She looked really pale and listless, so unlike the lively little girl he knew well.
Abby fell asleep in the car. When they got back, Richard carried her to her room, with Maya following behind neptune kitchens them. He laid her gently on the bed and removed her shoes. Maya smoothed her hair and tucked her in the blanket. Richard looked at Maya. Worry was etched on her face. She had dark circles under her eyes, obviously from lack of sleep.

Richard was shocked. Si Abby? His heart constricted. He cared so much for Abby too. He held Maya as tears fell from his eyes as well. He couldn’t help but cry for the little girl and her brokenhearted mother.
