This is the most delicious sauerkraut from all over the world! And I'm really not just saying that because the recipe from my mother ... My mother has this recipe again from her mother who in turn was a German cook. The sauerkraut is smooth, mild flavor and simply delicious! The secret lies in the long stewing and finely grated potatoes that goes through the sauerkraut at the last minute.
Ingredients bag sauerkraut large chopped onion 100 ml white wine tsp mild curry powder 2 bay leaves trumbull kitchen 3 cloves salt and ground pepper honey pineapple syrup (from a can of pineapple) medium potato (peeled and finely grated)
Prepare Put butter in a pan and fry the onion with the curry powder on a very low heat until soft. Meanwhile, rinse the sauerkraut until the worst acid is off. Squeeze well and add to the onion. Mix well. Deglaze with the white wine, a large spoonful of honey and add all the other spices. Add a dash of pineapple syrup and let simmer for 3 hours on the lowest heat. Check occasionally that the sauerkraut is not too dry. Otherwise add some pineapple syrup. The last half hour of the grated potato may be affected by the sauerkraut. Remove the bay leaves and cloves.
