Reminder: Leiden 1970. My mom came to visit in Leiden where I lived. She took the train and I took her to the station. We admired the Rapenburg and Academic Building of Leiden University, the state museum of antiquities, the botanical gardens and the SieboldHuis. For dessert this tour I took her to a terrace for a delicious ice cream. I had already discovered the dame blanche. The combination of cold ice cream with hot chocolate was delicious. My mother's face lit up when she gently small bites of both flavors simultaneously moved and put her spoon in her mouth. Her eyes spoke volumes and my mother's favorite ice had become a fact. Thus is born lucky.
Years later I was with my daughter in Leiden to find out. Her wedding dress She had discovered somewhere not too far from the middle to an address. Then we walked back and there on the same windy but sunny terrace at the Leiden Rapenburg again I enjoyed a drink and probably had the same feeling when my mother some thirty years ago.
